My London Hood: Mercato Metropolitano in Southwark, London

Okay, I'm now looking at south of the river...London joke as I keep saying. Work went for leaving do meal and drinks at Mercato Metropolitano, the Newington Causeway. This is trendy space - yes, literally a huge space with food stalls, benches and tables, a brewery and a cinema/movie theatre.

It's feels like a new age, sustainable place for the cool people to hang out, with cool and exotic street food. A bit like a low rent Borough Market, but more exclusive in a way.

The food is reasonable for street food well basically the same old £5.00 to about £10.00 and there are lots of different kinds of typical street food, so Turkish, Thai, Italian, Greek, English, West Indian, East Indian etc...the usual suspects.

I had a Vietnamese summer roll which is basically rice noodles wrap with a vegetable or meat filling. It was okay. I just wanted something light to eat rather than heavy. I think I'd already had a big breakfast and there was lots of cake at work, so I'd filled on that.

The others opted for curry, and pizza.

It wasn't really easy asking if I could take pictures of the food without telling my colleagues I was blogging, otherwise I'd just seem weird taking pictures of food.

I think that is a tomato one.

It was a pleasant day as the sun came out to shine so after a while we went outside. They have a big outdoor seating area.  Given they are regenerating the entire area, and possibly may opt to build more flats on the spot, I'm not sure how long this place would last. Who knows? Unless the Mercato Metropolitano owns the land or has leased it for the long term.

Show me your desk: Books, magazines, bottle of water, and same old clutter.

Today I have more of a writerly desk, so let's roll. From the far left handside is my writing magazine, I treat myself to it, and it has some interesting articles at times. It's just something I flick though the way other people buy GQ, Vougue or Marie Claire. It's my monthly interest magazine, and no I don't do the writing exercises but then who buys all the clothes, make-up and perfume advertised in the high-end women's magazines.  Next is a bottle of vitamins, this was a gift from Sis. Yes, as you probably realise, Sis is very generous with her gifts as they are normally featured on my desk. If fact the Apple Notebook is also one.  A small fact is that I bought my first phone only two years ago because for the last ten years, Sis gave me all her hand-me-downs. She's very on top of technology - ahead of the curve, wave or early adaptor.  Anyway she got me them because she's into healthy eating and body care, and probably got them on discount. ...

Up Date on Happenings: Newly Single & 17% pay raise.

Hey Everyone, So update since my last entry. Well I had a brief fling with Mr Sexy Guy and decided he wasn't the one for me. He was cool but I learned the difference between lust, chemistry and personality. It just didn't tango for me. I'm still grossly overweight, well, fat. I don't think there is anything wrong with being called fat. I am fat. I need to lose weight but that means getting organised and stop eating delicious food. Then again my knees are hurting me and joints feel the ache. I also haven't been to the gym in three months despite paying for it. But when I do, I normally go for the sauna, hot tub and   steam room session. I've thought of cancelling the exorbitant membership but in the climate apart from bills it's the one thing that is just for me...that when I use it. Work is fine, managed to get a 17% pay raise. A big thanks to my boss who also pushed for it. It's good to work for people who support you in that matter. I think tha...

Had coffee with a fellow writer, went to an exhibition on West Africa: Word, Symbol, Song at the British Library.

There was a massive Disney Christmas tree at St Pancras Station.  I thought I'd start with that picture. Implemented Accounting Guru Genius (AGG)  method this morning. I mentioned yesterdays she showed me her way of planning. Well it's kinda like project management critical path and working back but in AGG's way.  Well the results where what I sort of knew but it's official. I do too much. I've got so much on that I have make very slow progress with anything then end up procrastinating. So I really need to learn and get this planning and time management method under my belt. The only reason is that it's kinda the only thing I actually got. When AGG first did it, I was amazed. It was so impressive. I kinda forgot about it but it's coming up to the end of the year, and I've made great progress with some goals and projects but others are still hanging. Anyway after putting in all my hours I realised I only had a certain amount of free time. Not a...
