Decluttering Me! Discovering the Marie Kondo way to declutter PART 4 - BOOKS

Hello there, I'm dealing with books which aren't as easy as clothes. Not easy at all. So I've broken a few rules already with my categories Keepers - sparks of joy Leavers - no spark of joys Five chapter test - for books where no joy but haven't read Writing technique books - still needs to test. So fair I have nearly three boxes of books to discard.   Quite a good selection - like my cookbooks - I've put about six in the leaving box. Mostly because the recipes weren't unique and I no longer cook as much. Most of them were also celebrity cookbooks so Gwyneth Paltrow, Carol Vonnderman and a few others. I've kept the sliver spoon and another reference book and a few others - just the books with classic recipes. A few writing books are going and also non-fiction.  However the cheat are the maybes....the plan is to read the first five chapters then decide, normally I'm done by the first page or two. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THIS BUT I...

Decluttering Me! Discovering the Marie Kondo way to declutter PART 3

Hi all, So I've sorted out ALL my clothes, and makes for about 12 bags of clothes. New, old, tatty, prism etc. I've donated the first two bags I filled when I begun and with the other ten bags, I'm going to see if I can sell some stuff. I also have stuff for recycling so I need to bag that up. All in all a lot of stuff. So the plans are going to a carboot sales. I think of doing it online but I stopped using eBay a long time ago, and really I can't be bothered with the postage. The same with Depo. It's new and sounds fab but it's the same old postage issues and buyers wanting something for nothing. Also I just want this to be an easy process. To be honest it's really shipping/postage that is the big dealer. Also buyers. Saying that before I got bored on my eBay account, I did sell a lot. There are lots of options for reselling but I want minimum hassle so I'm doing it the old fashion way. In a car book sale. So the next stage is books which wil...

Decluttering Me! Discovering the Marie Kondo way to declutter PART 2

My after declutter drawers before and after declutter Hello everyone, how are you? So I'm still on the Marie Kondo decluttering mission and decided to do everything. Well I still have a trunk to empty. It's been an emotional journey in terms of who I was, who I was planning to be and where I turned up. I've only put up images of my tidy because I thought someone may like to see evidence, instead of a nice looking Instagram or stock picture. Something to show I'm a real person. By the way, this is a set of drawers from John Lewis. I've forgotten the set's name. Anyway way, moving on. This was the original state of my drawers, some of the clothes have been donated so it's a different set. Cluttered and jumbled drawers Sorting my clothes is telling a narrative of my life. It's quite grey at the moment. But some things were easy to get rid. Nice clothes - even with tags one -  but I never felt them. I have a lovely beaded skirt wh...

Discovering the Marie Kondo way to declutter - Tackling Clothes

Hello Internet Family, Things have been so busy at work and preparing for my self publishing venture. Oh man, it has been a journey and I haven't even started. Anyway, I was reading a magazine left into the office kitchen and discovered an article on Marie Kondo. So looking round a few articles I've discover a few tit-bits. I have lots of clutter due to my home being refitted and moving stuff from room to room, then having the hectic jobs. I also have massive of books and papers all over the joint.  Plus you can read about my story about how I struggled to become an associate. Anyway I was so deep in clutter, I could not figure a way out. But yesterday, I read the article and decided to try. I love the folding bit. I haven't read any of her books yet. I mean I have so many so trying to curb the habit. So many books on organisation too -okay about three plus I joined the fly lady group. However I loved the categories not room.  Then again all my stuff is all over the...
