3 Lesson MAKE A LOGO WITH SHAPES

This lesson was more interesting and about making logo with shapes.

Topics covers
  • Create a new document.
  • Use tools and commands to create a variety of shapes.
  • Understand Live Shapes.
  • Create rounded corners.
  • Work with drawing modes.
  • Use the Place command.
  • Use Image Trace to create shapes.
  • Simplify paths.
It was a bit dull to begin with but after a while it got exciting because I was creating shapes. Overall,  I'd say the property panel needs a bit of practice and honestly my shapes didn't make the grade.
However I've learnt maybe best to think in layers or shapes. Like sketch it before hand in composite shapes. Yes it does spoil the magic a bit but it may prepare one for the lessons.

Note, I think there may be different configurations because the line segment tool in my package  has it's own option and does not reside as an option under the rectangle icon.

Complaint: Yes. I thought it was going to do the handwriting the complicated artwork from scratch but intstead they came from a pre-prepared file which I felt was a cheat because I was looking forward to learning those skills. So I'm a bit miffed about that since that would have helped me in my design. However perhaps I am impatience since I still have a few more lessons to do. However the tip in book gives some guidance on how it was done.

Bonus tip. I found the digital version also has video tutorials so I skimmed those. Honestly if you have a print copy you can see if you can register for a digital copy.

Lesson 4 EDITING AND COMBINING SHAPES AND PATHS

Topics covers

  • Cut with the Scissors tool.
  • Join paths.
  • Work with the Knife tool.
  • Outline strokes.
  • Work with the Eraser tool.
  • Create a compound path.
  • Work with the Shape Builder tool.
  • Work with Pathfinder effects to create shapes.
  • Work with the Reshape tool.
  • Edit strokes with the Width tool.
  • Use Intertwine.
It was a bit fiddly and probably I need more practice. I kept on getting the scissor and knife tool wrong but it was useful knowing about the shape builder and width tools. The others I think I'll need to revise again.

This is my example and not as need as the book but it's about practice.

So far so good, but is is a reason to buy the book? I don't know at this point, though I like having a reference a material. As usual I've also stopped doing the lessons to focus on the project I wanted to learning stuff by googling the commands I needed to use.

With this said, it is too early to say, and I don't want to quit right now since the chapters I really need to learn is layers which is in lesson ten. A criticism I have is there are no short cuts given so everything is done the long way.

My African American & Black Love Romance Adventure Nearly Ready After Four Years.

Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to read this. This post is going to be about my upcoming black love and African American contemporary romance release, which I think tentatively will be late this year or early 2024. It will be a six-part serialised novel, and I'll reveal the date nearer the time. It has been five years since my last black love romance novel. I have two novellas published on Amazon, and I'm  pleased to finally say, I'm about to publish again. It's been a long time.  I planned to release this book in February 2019, but after a long writer's block and other things, it had taken me this long to complete it.  If you follow this blog on and off, I've spoken about it a lot over the years. I'm thinking maybe I should relabel those blog posts as a series of how it developed.  The Story Description The names have changed well from Angelica to Pippa but it's fine.  Everyone wants someone special but PIPPA MILLER thinks not her. She

Lost Four Pounds! Attended Pilates! Watched Patricia Bright

On Friday my boss got bored of me talking about my eating plan and how I only used my gym for the spa facilities, so let's just say I forced to put my money where my mouth was and ended up booking five exercise sessions. Yes, hard to believe I've been with my gym for over a year and have NEVER ATTENDED A GYM CLASS. Mainly, because I like the spa and thing food reduction is the way to lose weight also just thinking of exercise exhausts me. I needed to book them via the website but having never done it, my password failed so I rang, in front of my boss, the gym to book it. Proof. They are mainly low impact classes so nothing too strenuous or so I thought. Come Saturday, I'm down the gym for my pilates class with all these fit, slim and trendy people. It's a 9AM class so basically like a work day for me. I thought pilates was gentle. Not. I say this having done it for about three years in a dance school - yeah I was once about twenty pounds or ten kilos lighter - and the

HAPPY NEW YEAR - LET THE GOALS ROLL

Hello all. Happy New Year! So last year was awesome for me because I managed to achieve one goal. The biggest goal which was to get a new job. And that came with financial reward as well. Yay! It was hard, challenging, horrible. I hate change but I had to get out of the rut I was in. Dudes, I was desperate to move. So I dug deep, did my interview practice, attended a number of interviews and hit one. Yay. Now longer gaming. I didn't need the escapism with my new positive work environment. I also abandoned the iPhone family and went Android. To cut a long story short, I got bought an iPhone 8 but it was faulty - however Apple weren't transparent about their return policy - ALWAYS ASK ABOUT RETURN POLICY. Nor did they believe the phone was faulty. It was. Anyway I was so disgusted the arrogance of the 'apple people', I decided instead of getting a replacement to spend my money elsewhere. I'm still part of the Apple family. But the Apple Store sales assist
